Serial vs parallel: how many accounts belong on one mobile line
Two ways to run many accounts on mobile lines: serial (many groups on one line, rotating between them) and parallel (one group per line). What each protects, what each exposes, and a hybrid that sizes cleanly.

Every operator who runs more than a handful of accounts eventually asks the same question: how many of them can share one mobile line? The honest answer depends less on the line than on how the accounts are run. There are two shapes, and they fail in different ways.
The two shapes
Serial means few lines and many groups per line. A group of accounts works for a while, the operator calls the rotation link, the next group starts on the fresh IP. Ten or twenty groups a day fit on one line, and actions are spread across the day so no account looks busy.
Parallel means one account group per line. Each line keeps its own IP history and changes IP on its own clock. Nothing that happens on one line is visible on another, and no two groups ever move at the same second.

What actually protects an account
- Action volume per account. Platforms budget actions per account, not per IP. An account that posts, follows and messages like a person survives; one that hits its ceiling does not, whatever the IP.
- Fingerprint isolation. One device or browser profile per account, with timezone, language and location that agree with the line's country.
- Behavioural variety. Different hours, different rhythms, different content. Two accounts that act in lockstep are one account to the platform.
- A consistent network story. The same country every day, an IP from a mobile carrier, no mid-session jumps.
- Independence. No shared moment when a whole set of accounts changes network and goes quiet at once.
Where serial works
Serial is a maintenance shape. Aged accounts that need a few light actions a day to stay warm, grouped so that each group gets one session and one fresh IP, spread across the day. The accounts are not growing, so their action budgets are small, and the line's cost is shared across many of them.
Where serial breaks
- Growth. New accounts posting actively need their own rhythm and their own IP history. Rotating a group of them through one line makes every account's history look like every other's.
- Long sessions. A continuous twelve-hour session is itself a tell, and a rotation in the middle of it looks like a session moving between networks.
- Overlap. If the next group starts before the previous group's connections have drained, both groups share an IP for a moment and their histories touch.
- The allowance. Every line includes a daily allowance of customer-driven IP changes, published in the fair-use policy. A serial setup with many groups eats into it; parallel lines barely notice it.
The hybrid that sizes cleanly
Most operators land in between: a few lines, a few groups per line, one rotation per switch, and lines offset so that no two switches ever coincide. A worked example for a hundred Instagram accounts:
- 01Three Full Access lines, about thirty-three accounts each, split into five or six groups per line.
- 02One or two sessions a day per group, each between half an hour and ninety minutes, with one rotation at every group switch.
- 03The three lines' schedules offset by about twenty minutes, so switches never happen at the same time.
- 04Action budgets per account by age: a new account gets a fraction of what a year-old account gets.
- 05A nightly pause with some randomness at both ends, and every account tied to one line for life.
That comes to roughly ten to twenty rotations per line per day, well inside the allowance, and a cost of three monthly lines for a hundred accounts. Rules that hold in both shapes
- Rotate between sessions, never during one.
- Keep on-demand changes at least five minutes apart and read the status link instead of calling rotate twice.
- One platform per Platform or Rotating line; Full Access for mixed destinations and the rotation link.
- Timezone, language and location on the device match the line's country, every day.
- An account belongs to one line. It does not move.
How many accounts per line, then?
Growth: three to five per line depending on the platform. Maintenance: a group of up to eight or ten per line, one session per group. The calculator turns your account count into lines and a cost per account; treat it as sizing advice, not a promise about the platform.
Does rotating more often make accounts safer?
No. Frequent changes are one of the patterns platforms correlate. Rotate when a group switches or a session ends, and let the carrier's own changes do the rest.
Serial or parallel for an agency's clients?
Parallel: one line per client at minimum. Two clients on one line share an IP at the same moment and inherit each other's history, and neither can see or control what the other does.
